ALIGARH, February 16: Aligarh Muslim University’s Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College witnessed an engaging academic session as the Department of IlmulAdvia organised a guest lecture on “Common Problems in Synopsis, Dissertation and Paper Writing,” offering practical guidance to young researchers and postgraduate scholars in Unani Medicine.

The lecture was delivered by Prof Abdul Wadud of the Department of IlmulAdvia, School of Unani Medical Education and Research, Jamia Hamdard. Drawing on his extensive academic experience, he underscored the importance of sound research methodology, clarity in scientific writing and adherence to publication ethics as key pillars of academic excellence and professional advancement.

Prof Wadud addressed the recurring challenges faced by scholars, including the selection of focused and relevant research topics, formulation of clear objectives, development of a coherent methodology, avoidance of plagiarism, compliance with national and international publication standards, and maintaining precision in scientific language. He emphasised that mastery of these components is vital for producing credible research and making meaningful contributions to the scientific community.

Chairing the session, Prof S.M. Safdar Ashraf, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, highlighted the importance of authenticity, ethical writing practices and strong thesis-writing skills in shaping successful academic careers. He urged students to maintain integrity and rigour in their scholarly pursuits.

Dr Abdur Rauf, Chairman of the Department of IlmulAdvia, welcomed the guest speaker and described the lecture as a timely initiative to strengthen research culture within the faculty.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Nazish Siddiqui.
