ALIGARH, November 26: Four specialised outpatient departments were inaugurated at Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University. The new OPDs include clinics for Sexual Disorders, Gastrointestinal & Metabolic Disorders, Rheumatology, and Hijama & Wellness.
The facilities were inaugurated jointly by Prof S.M. Safdar Ashraf, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, and Prof Badrudduja Khan, Principal and Medical Superintendent, in the presence of the Deputy Medical Superintendent, department chairpersons and specialist consultants.
Prof Badrudduja Khan announced that the OPDs have become operational for the general public from November 25, with a focus on providing specialised Unani care for chronic conditions. The specialized OPDs, operational for the general public from November 25, offer focused Unani care for chronic conditions. The Gastrointestinal and Metabolic Disorders Clinic, held on Tuesdays under Prof Tanzeel Ahmad, will address ailments such as IBS, jaundice, liver diseases, diabetes, obesity and general weakness. The Rheumatology Clinic, conducted on Wednesdays by Prof Mohd Anwar, will cater to patients with osteoarthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis and other joint-related disorders. On Fridays, the Sexual Disorders Clinic led by Prof Badrudduja Khan will provide care for infertility, erectile dysfunction, loss of libido and associated conditions. The Hijama and Wellness Clinic, held on Saturdays under Prof Asia Sultana, will focus on lifestyle management for diabetes, hypertension, obesity and sleep disorders, and will also offer therapeutic hijama services for the treatment and prevention of various diseases.
Prof Badrudduja Khan and Dr Mohammad Mohsin (Deputy Medical Superintendent) emphasised that the specialised OPDs will significantly strengthen Unani healthcare outreach and promote holistic wellbeing through traditional therapeutic practices.
