Aligarh, November 14: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) celebrated Children’s Day with enthusiasm, colour, and creativity across campus, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to nurturing young minds through holistic and value-based education. A series of events, ranging from fetes and cultural performances to health camps, sports, and educational excursions, reflected the joy of childhood and the responsibility of shaping responsible, confident, and compassionate citizens.

The Department of Ilmul Atfal at Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College (AKTC) observed Children’s Day through meaningful health and educational initiatives. The department organised a free health check-up camp and a poster-making competition to promote awareness and creativity among children.

The programme was inaugurated by Prof. S. M. Safdar Ashraf, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, along with Prof. B. D. Khan, Principal, AKTC. The event was attended by faculty members.

At the poster competition, Sana Parveen secured the first prize, Abdullah Faizul Hasan the second, and Sana Parveen also bagged the third prize. The judges for the competition were Dr. Jameel Ahmad from J.N. Medical College and Dr. Abiha Ahmad from AKTC. Dr. Diwan Israr Khan, Dr M Anas, Dr Samreen Khan and Dr Sana Jameel exmined the Childrens.

The AMU Girls’ School set a spirited tone for the day by organising Children’s Day Fete under the guidance of Principal Mrs. Amna Malik and Vice Principal Mrs. Alka Agarwal. Chief Guest Prof. Asfar Ali Khan, Director, DOSE, lauded the initiative, stating that such events “nurture confidence, creativity, and teamwork among students, complementing their academic growth.” Guests of Honour Mrs. Tanveer Badar and Prof. Sajid Jamal applauded the dedication of students and teachers in creating a memorable event.

Coordinated by Mr. Shoaib Raza and Ms. Almas Tariq, the fete featured engaging games and activity stalls supervised by Ms. Tabeer. Activities such as the Friendship Compatibility Test, KBC Quiz, Rolling the Dice, and Crack the Codes highlighted student leadership and organisational skills. The Mehndi Stall, managed by Ms. Khusboo Zehra, remained a much-loved attraction for its intricate and aesthetic designs.

Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh AMU City School commemorated Children’s Day with programme dedicated to the memory of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.  A special assembly included speeches, songs, and reflections that captured Nehru’s vision of empowering the nation’s youth.

Addressing the students, History Teacher Ishtiyaq Ahmad highlighted the values Nehru championed. Principal Syed Tanveer Nabi encouraged students to dream fearlessly and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to providing an environment “where every child feels valued, protected, and inspired to dream beyond boundaries.” The celebration also included creative competitions and sports activities that enabled students to display their talents with pride.

Children’s Day at AMU ABK High School (Girls) was marked by creativity, energy, and cultural vibrancy. Addressing the gathering, Vice Principal Dr. Saba Hasan encouraged students to remain curious, creative, and compassionate in all their pursuits.

Students showcased their talents through dance performances, musical recitations, skits, poetry, mimicry, fancy dress, and a spirited ramp walk. Sports activities were also organised, including a cricket match dedicated to India’s Women’s World Cup victory. The programme was organised with the support of assembly incharges, event incharges, pro-proctors, and coordinator Dr. Farhat Parveen.

At AMU ABK High School (Boys), the day began with a special assembly that included motivational messages and student performances reflecting the significance of Children’s Day. Principal Dr. Samina encouraged students to strive for discipline, excellence, and integrity.

A “bagless day” added delight to the day’s celebrations, giving students a welcome break from routine academic work. Outdoor activities included a spirited tug of war between teachers and students, a lively musical chairs competition, and a friendly cricket match between teachers and the school team.

Ahmadi School for the Visually Challenged curated joyful Children’s Day programme filled with sports, swings, music, and learning. Students actively participated in games, enjoyed various play activities, and engaged in a cheerful session of Antakshari.

The school organised an educational visit to Jawahar Park, where teachers explained the characteristics of different plant species and introduced scientific concepts through swings and physical activities. The school ensured nutritious refreshments and personalised care for every child

AMU City Girls’ High School celebrated Children’s Day with a lively fete inaugurated by Prof. Mohd Azam Khan from the Department of Economics. Students from Classes 1 to 10 set up nutritious and homemade food stalls offering lunch items, confectioneries, and beverages.

A special assembly was organised as a tribute to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, celebrating his message of love, equality, and opportunity for every child. Principal Mr. Javed Akhtar, who mentored and guided the event, appreciated the efforts of staff and students. The fete concluded with cherished moments for all participants.

STS School, AMU Aligarh celebrated Children’s Day 2025 with enthusiasm, echoing Nehru Ji’s message of love, opportunity, and confidence for every child. The programme featured the Thought of the Day by Mrs. Rumisha Nawaz, news headlines by Mr. Muddasir Ali Rizvi, a melodious Nazm by Mrs. Nelofar Anwar, a speech by Mr. Nooruzama Arshad, and a touching poem by Mrs. Ghazala Tanvir. Teachers also presented a lively group song.

Principal Mr. Faisal Nafis congratulated the students and encouraged them to dream big and learn with passion. Fun sports activities added excitement as students participated in friendly competitions.

The event concluded on a joyful note and was organised under the guidance of Vice Principal Dr. Md. Alamgir and the dedicated team of teachers.
